Educational hip hop artist Güero Loco presents a fun & interactive session to help educators increase their efficacy with authentic methods of engagement for multilingual learners through the utilization of hip hop, reggaeton, poetry, storytelling & rhyming in the classroom. Educators will learn actionable methods of integrating pop culture, authentic culture, & current events that matter to their students and families in order to engage them in the learning processes of speaking, reading, writing, self-confidence & emotional liberation through music.

Project GLAD works great online! It also works in a hybrid schedule with a blended-learning or concurrent-teaching format. We'll describe our vision for organizing your students in a hybrid classroom for safe interaction during whole class, team, and individual activities. Then we'll explore a GLAD unit plan that uses two blended learning models: the flipped classroom and station rotations.

In this interactive session, we will develop a common understanding of scaffolding language and content through the lens of Project GLAD’s big ideas. You will experience simple scaffolding techniques and strategies that can easily be incorporated into your everyday classroom routines and lessons, in any content area, and at any grade level. You’ll have an opportunity to reflect on your current work and scaffolding goals with other educators to support ALL students.
