Cultivating the Pedagogy of Translanguaging

The Translanguaging Institute will bring together a diverse group of educators who serve emergent bilingual students and families. The Institute will bring educators together from across New Mexico and the United States. The concept of a Translanguaging Institute comes from the imperative to:

  • Enact a translanguaging stance encouraging the deployment of language practices of emergent bilingual students.

  • Foster creation of translanguaging spaces in the school, out-of-school, and online contexts

  • Cultivate the pedagogy of translanguaging in bilingual education, STEAM, English as a second language, ethnic studies, and more.

This institute aims to explore innovative translanguaging pedagogy that fosters language inclusivity, social justice, and equity in research and teaching endeavors.

This year, we will have a call for proposals from educators, academia, and the community.
